Golden Milk Lattes & Coffee Alternatives
I love coffee as much as anyone (hellloooo Nespresso!) but I’m highly sensitive to caffeine and a little too much heightens my anxiety a little too much! Coffee can often be tough on my stomach and cause digestion problems all day for me. I try to steer away from coffee as often as I can but sometimes I just need a delicious drink that gives me a boost! The best thing I could do for my body (and my stomach!) was to find a drink that isn’t full of chemicals like a diet Coke (*sad!*) and isn’t as strong or harsh as coffee can be (*more sad!*). That’s when I found the California Gold Dust! (*no longer sad!*)
My mom’s friend and clean eating guru, Terry Walters, told us about this little health superfood powder mix called California Gold Dust, which people make this cute yellow drink called a golden milk latte. I’ve seen these frothy gold drinks a few times now on Instagram through other health and wellness bloggers but never got the chance to try some for myself until recently. The golden milk latte is made from pure all natural and organic super spices: organic turmeric, organic ginger, organic CEYLON cinnamon, chia seeds, and black pepper. Ow owwww!!! I tried this for the first time and I was so surprised by the taste! I thought it was going to taste super spicy and earthy! To my surprise, this tasted so sweet and delicious! Such a creamy, cinnamon taste and so easy to drink. I was prepared to cringe each sip I forced down my throat in the name ~health~, but that wasn’t the case at all. On the kind of gold dust I purchased, they list 3 different ways to drink this magical gold dust. I chose to do a warm latte! The exact recipe I made is below:
-8 oz. coconut or almond milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
-1 tsp. of California Gold Dust
-A half a spoonful of raw honey to sweeten (measure this to your own preference)
-1 tablespoon of coconut oil
2.) Whisk well while heating over medium heat.
3.) Bring to a simmer (not a boil)
4.) Pour Golden Milk into your favorite mug and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon! Yum!
I also have made this drink over ice this week (as pictured below) and it was just as delicious! Shout out to my favorite stainless steal reusable straws I found on Amazon!

Not sure if I was in a good mood because that it was a Friday when I tried this, or if this drink has magical effects on mood but I’m kind of convinced this drink made me happier and more relaxed. I was extremely stressed out, foggy brained, and anxious about the weekend ahead of me but for some reason, I just felt so warm and fuzzy! I’ve enjoyed a golden milk latte every day since trying this last week and I’ve noticed my digestion has improved too!
