Trying Drunk Elephant Skincare For The First Time!

Drunk Elephant skincare routine

I’ve heard so much about this brand lately, especially about this slightly painful but life changing “baby facial”. Drunk Elephant is a clean skincare brand that only uses ingredients that benefit the skin and only choose ingredients based on it’s “bio-compatibility” with the skin. VERY INTRIGUING! Drunk Elephant also never uses what they call the “Suspicious 6” in their products, which includes: Essential Oils, Drying Alcohols, Silicones, Chemical Sunscreens, Fragrances/Dyes, SLS…which they believe makes their products great for all skin types! Very cool, very nice. Alright! So I recently went into Sephora where I used some points to get two DE samples. Tt was my birthday week so I got a birthday reward, which I of course, had to go for the Drunk Elephant option because I was just so eager to try out this brand! So there I was with 4 really nicely sized Drunk Elephant samples. I’ve tried them all now so I can give a thorough and honest review for my lovely followers. Here we go!

ALSO! The Sephora VIB sale is going on right now if ya didnt know :) So it’s the greatest time of year. VIB’s get 15% off all orders and you can stock up on points this way. We love a good sale!

Drunk Elephant skincare review

Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser – First of all, I love the packaging of this cleanser. Even the sample size is cute and has a great dispenser twist cap, so there is no hassle with losing the lid and zero fussing to get this open. This product I’d definitely buy in a full size because I loved using this! It has a gel-like consistency and is clear in color. As some of you may know, I’m so sick of makeup wipes and the harsh friction that I have to apply to get off water proof makeup or mascara, so I usually opt for a cleansing balm (which I’ve just learned DE does have one!). This jelly cleanser really is great! It removed my waterproof mascara and my face makeup without any harsh scrubbing. It’s gentle much like the Fresh Soy Cleanser, so it didn’t sting my eyes like acid! Love that for me!!! It also is not over drying or strip the skin of its natural hydration. I loved this stuff! I actually would consider using this after using a cleansing balm just as the last cleanse to really make sure you got everything off and there is no residue left behind. Then you can tone and hydrate as you usually would! A+ to Drunk Elephant for this jelly cleanser.

Sukari Baby Facial – I was super nervous about this treatment product because I have extremely sensitive skin and prone to eczema. Like so sensitive, sometimes I get heat rash like I’m a toddler when I’ve been at the pool too long. But this has been raved about endlessly in all the beauty and skincare guru Facebook groups I’m in. So, Drunk Elephant’s directions say to leave this on for 20 mins but, mama ain’t playing around. Not trying to play with fire here and end up looking puffy, red, splotchy, or any of that nonsense. I only left this on for 5 minutes so my experiment is a bit flawed here. About a minute after applying Baby Facial to my face it felt prickly and a slightly stinging. Nothing horribly unbearable but definitely a little weird. I put up with it for 5 minutes and then got too anxious that I was going to have a terrible reaction so I washed it off and immediately slathered on the Marula Oil, as directed. I did notice my skin looking clear and feeling extremely soft the next day! So I think it is all thanks to this treatment basically burning off a layer of dead skin. Lovely! But IDK if I will put my skin through that again. Other people have raved about this and loved it so much, so perhaps you should also pick up a sample of this before going all out and buying the full size. Don’t say I didn’t warn you that this shit stings.

Drunk Elephant skincare review

Marula Luxury Face Oil – This is a fantastic nourishing face oil and as the name implies, it certainly feels luxurious. This is described as “rehab for the skin” and let me tell you. This is one fabulous rehab! The company says to apply this after using the baby facial, which is what I did and WOW. My skin felt so soft and looked so radiant after it soaked up this product. I applied this to my face and of course, down the neck and the chest too cause you can’t forget those important areas. The oil has a thicker consistency compared to an Argan oil, for example. It sinks into the skin better than some facial oils I’ve tried before too. If you have dry or combination skin type, this face oil would be great for you but I don’t think it is that much different than many other facial oils out there. I personally love my Josie Maran Light Argan Oil the most. I have combination skin so I found this to be just the perfect amount of hydration for me and really balanced out the texture of my skin. But I didn’t notice a huge differentiation from this luxurious facial oil compared to one such as Biossance’s Squalane oil. I don’t think it’s worth the price tag, but if you are looking for a luxurious facial oil that really delivers great hydration then this might be for you! Anyways, I layered the Protini moisturizer on top of this to lock in that moisture and to further soothe my sensitive-ass “baby” skin.

Protini Polypeptide Cream – This is the other stand out product for me out of the four. I already hopped on the peptide trend by putting collagen peptides in my coffee each morning so why not put peptides on my face?! And boy am I glad I did. This is a gel like consistency, not creamy looking, like the Lala Retro Whipped Cream looks. It is soft in consistency and glides into the skin really nicely. It definitely hydrates well and leaves the skin looking radiant! I love this product so much!!!! I will be getting this in it’s full size. Also because I heard the full size dispenser is one of those push button ones where it is pumped out through the button top. I’m a sucker for a great dispenser! This stuff is great. Feels so luxurious and light-weight but also delivers great hydration without feeling oily or greasy. What a dream in moisture heaven! This stuff is so good that Business Insider wrote a whole article about how it keeps selling out at Sephora! Makes sense why everyone loves it though…My cheeks felt bouncy and lively after using this! You must try this if you have combo skin like me! If you have very dry skin I’d recommend using the the Lala Retro Whipped Cream, which is thicker.

I hope you enjoyed this review as much as I did! Talk to you soon :)
